UAB is a world-renowned research university and the largest urban university in Alabama. UAB boasts a full range of academics with 51 undergraduate majors and offers degree programs in 12 schools:

With over 17,000 students, including undergraduate, graduate and professional levels, UAB offers a strong diverse group of students that possess a rich combination of academic, leadership, and work-related skills.

UAB ranks third in the southeast in federal research funding. In fact, UAB houses more than 80 nationally known research centers that are finding new ways to fight disease, revitalize inner cities, protect the environment, and much more.

Accreditation: UAB is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Individual programs and schools are also accredited by regional and national professional associations.

In just the past five years, UAB students have been named Rhodes, Fulbright, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater and Phi Kappa Phi scholars, and two were selected for USA Today’s All-USA College Academic First team, a list of the country’s top 20 students.

An impressive 90 percent of the faculty at UAB hold an academic or professional doctorate.
