Internships

An internship is generally a single semester work experience (paid or unpaid) that offers students an opportunity to engage in further career exploration. Internships may or may not be directly related to a student's major. School sponsored internships may have eligibility requirements above and beyond those of UAB Career Services.

Internships strive to provide students with carefully monitored learning experiences through collaborative partnerships with leaders in their prospective fields.

The internship or co-operative education experience can help you to:

  • Test the waters in your chosen field, to see if this is truly a good fit for you,
  • Gain important work-related skills,
  • Network with individuals in your field,
  • Broaden your horizons,
  • Enhance your resume,
  • Set you apart from the pack, and
  • Get the job of your dreams.
